Help Us Top Last Years Donations.

Last year we collected hundreds of pounds of food and $1,371 in cash.  We're getting a late start this year so we'll need some serious donations to beat last year's numbers. The food drive runs till 12-30-11.

Utah Hunger Statistics

  • 1 in 10 Utahns, and 1 in 8 Utah children, lives in poverty.

  • An impoverished family of four makes about $22,000 a year to cover health care costs, shelter, food, and other household expenses.

  • Utah is ranked fourth in the nation for the highest rate of very low food security in the nation. About 400,000 Utahns risk missing one meal every day.

  • More than 134,000 Utahns receive food stamps, and 63,000 eat dinner at a soup kitchen.

  • 1 in 7 Utah children is at risk of hunger, and nearly 40 percent receive free or reduced school lunch.

How You Can Help

The easiest way to participate is to donate food and cash through the virtual food drive. Not only will it save you the time, energy and gas to drive to our downtown Salt Lake City office, it will also make your donations go further for each dollar spent. That's because food items can be bought online at deep discounts over grocery store prices. That means that you can donate a lot more food for the same or less money!. You're donation goes even further if you donate cash directly through the virtual food drive. Utah Food Bank is able to procure $7 worth of food for every $1 in cash donations. For those of you in the Salt Lake City area with extra food in your pantries, you're welcome to bring non-perishable food items directly to our downtown corporate office.
